CREATE-NET is an international research consortium active in the telecommunications and networking field based in northern Italy. CREATE-NET was founded in 2003 by some of the most prestigious universities and research centers in Europe (Technion, University of Trento, Fondazione Bruno Kessler), and currently employs around 100 people.
By bringing together major academic institutions, corporations and research actors from around the world, CREATE-NET is engaged in combining highest quality research, addressing telecommunications and advanced services challenges, with experimentation on a unique real life experimental facility in Trentino. CREATE-NET is a partner of the EIT-ICT Labs initiative. The center has significant collaborations with leading institutions in the US (MIT and Georgia Tech), China (Tsinghua and BUPT), South Africa (SAP/Meraka) and Israel (Technion). The center has also developed very strong collaborations with major industrial stakeholders (Cisco Systems, Orange-FT, Siemens, Ericsson), while recently it has spinned off three promising startups (U- Hopper, eXrade, Intelinks) that are now capitalising on previous research efforts. CREATE-NET is also supporting eMobility, NEM, NESSI, ISI, E2B and participates in standardization activities in ETSI. CREATE-NET has participated in 8 projects in FP6, for three of which it acted as coordinator (BIONETS, ONE and SAMBA), and is currently involved in 20 FP7 projects.
CREATE-NET’s research objectives include a combination of scientific topics and the application of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to specific domains. In order to better respond to the research objectives with a support which is consistent to its research and development activities, the Centre has recently undergone a reorganization featuring Technical Research and Application Areas.
Role in Project
In the AGILE proposal, CREATE-NET will be the project coordinator and will act as technical and scientific coordinator. CREATE-NET will also directly contribute to the technical implementation of the platform in WP2, WP3 and WP4 and in supporting dissemination and community management activities.
